Like many colleagues in the guild, Viorel Marian is self-taught and learned his craft after going through various other jobs. As he confesses, wood carving brings him the most satisfaction, even now, after more than 20 years of practicing it.

In popular tradition, the twin spoon of the bride and groom is used only once in their life, on the wedding night, when the bride and groom must eat from the same bowl with the same spoon. On the tail of the spoon are represented two birds arranged back to back, with a heart representing the love that unites them in the upper part and with their bodies splitting a frog, which represents the evil spirit, in the lower part.

Thus, the bride and groom, united by love, defeat evil fighting back to back like two warriors alert to the dangers that may appear from any direction. In short, the meaning is that the two brides and grooms are united and love each other for the rest of their lives, just like on the wedding night.

  • Cherry wood spoon
  • Carved by hand
  • 34 cm long
  • It can be used for cooking or serving food
  • It can be used for decorative purposes
  • The spoons are handmade, so they are unique and will not be identical to the ones in the photos. It is about small differences in the carved model, of course keeping the symbolic meaning, or about differences in the color and natural fiber of the wood. We consider these small differences part of their charm.
